Presents!

B-Boy got lots of fun stuff for his birthday, even though we really tried not to go crazy with it. After we got home from his birthday party at daycare, we let him open his gifts.

He had not really opened his own presents before, as we usually have to help him- he normally does not understand what he is supposed to do.

But that was before he turned two. I am happy to report that B-Boy has just discovered how to open presents! We still have to help him get started, but boy can he rip through some paper!

Hey, my favorite characters are on this paper!
Hi Elmo! Hi Abby! Hi Wee-Wee!

He opened the first gift, which was a Sesame Street Fire Truck driven by Grover...

And then a set of plastic Bert and Ernie figures that can be used with the fire truck...

which he enjoyed playing with right away!

Ernie, you can drive so Grover can climb up this ladder!

Then he opened his first set of Play-Doh... which Mommy had to really look for because most playdough is in "Safe for 3+ years" packaging... but they do sell some for 2 year olds!

B-Boy wasn't sure about the play-Doh, but eventually he figured out it was fun to poke at it and smooch it in his hand. Then he opened a set of Sesame Street flash cards on words, shapes, colors and opposites. B-Boy had played with them at a friend's house and wouldn't put them down, so we decided to give them a try.

Then it was on to the gifts sent from family. B-Boy had already gotten a wooden train set from AuntJ and Limby this summer, and really loves playing with it. (Which reminds me I need to take a photo of that!)

B-Boy opened a card from my Dad which was really adorable. B-Boy loves to hold cards and look at them! Unfortunately, every time I snapped a photo, he would turn the card over. Sigh. GrandpaGator also sent a check so B-Boy could pick out a gift for himself... good thing I took that out before handing it to him!

Where's the tongue?

The last card my Dad sent had a dog on the front whose tongue popped out when you opened the card. B-Boy adored it... I think he was trying to find the tongue on this card...

B-Boy then opened the present from GranE and Pop-Pop. They sent him a snuggly warm pair of gray pants and a book. When B-Boy opened the book, GranE's voice started to read the story to him! He thought that was mighty neat, and enjoyed having the book read to him without Mommy or Daddy's help. He kept turning the pages back and forth to hear GranE talk.

Don't interupt Mommy....
GranE is reading me a book!

The next day, WorkBFF sent home a present for B-Boy. Tied to the bow was a Monkey finger puppet that B-Boy just adores. He is always asking me to help him put it on.

Oh! A monkey!

He opened the gift to find a set of pattern block puzzles! They are pictures cut in wood. You have different shapes that you can add to the pictures to complete them. B-Boy liked the colors and holding the triangles in his hands.

Why do you think it is a doggie Daddy?

All in all a great birthday!
