This week, B-Boy has been walking like CRAZY .
He is walking longer, stronger and more frequently. He has gone from walking with 4 steps, to 8 steps, to 22 steps... to too many steps to count!
As the week progressed, his balance got better and he started pivoting on his feet to turn. Then came pulling up to take off walking. He started with getting help from us, to pulling up on chairs, to now getting up on his own with nothing around. He will squat to pick something up and then POP!, up he goes. Or, if he falls, will get on all fours with his feet flat on the floor. Then, POP!, up he goes.
He is so proud of himself too. He gets a huge smile on his face and makes a noise HA! that lets you know how pleased he is with himself. Of course, every time I took out the video camera, he would immediately fall down and start crawling. I don't think he wants you to see his new trick!
But rest assured, people have seen it, and he showed off while GranE was here. I hope to get some footage for you soon.

B-Boy fights diabetes
Early Saturday morning, Neb, B-Boy and I went to Durham for the diabetes walk. Many folks he work with formed a team to walk to fight diabetes. You might remember Neb blogged about it earlier here.
The event started at 8:30 am, about an hour away from where we live. The morning, like most mornings, was quite chaotic. But we did get there on time, and B-Boy was in good spirits. We started with some music and stretching... and then it was announced that Neb's team came in tenth place for fund raising! YAY!
We took the stroller we use for walks at home, so B-Boy had lots of room to stretch out. This also meant that Neb could show off his nifty lights to his coworkers. What did it mean for me? Well, it meant a bigger basket underneath to store all our stuff... and that I got to listen to music because the stroller has an iPod dock. Heh heh. We did the walk listening mostly to Bob Marley, which made the time go by nicely.
The walk was a four mile one. The weather was nice, and not too hot. Neb and I were tired at the end - B-Boy was refreshed because he got a nice nap in along the way. I was a proud momma, he didn't cry once... not even with all the dogs around!

I'm Walking on Sunshine!
B-Boy is not walking on his own, but he sure wants too.
He is walking great hanging on to things, like the edge of the couch or the pack-n-play. He will even reluctantly walk if you hold his hands above his head and walk behind him.
But today, he took a new step in the direction of walking on his own. He used his V-tech Learning Walker in a different way. Normally, he just sits on his knees and plays with the front of it... making music play and lights blink. For the past few weeks, he has been pulling up on the walker, and pushing it against the wall.
Today was different. He played with it as he normally does, and kept pulling up on it, but he tried to push it from the front more than he usually does. Which got me thinking... I wonder if he wants to use the "walker" part of the toy.
So I moved it to the center of the room, and helped him pull up behind it. The next thing I knew, ZOOM! He took off walking!
I grabbed the closest camera to take some video for you. It's not the best video, and I wish the angle had been better. I hope you will still enjoy it!
