Snow arrives after Christmas

We woke on December 26th to a yard full of beautiful snow.

And no power.

Did I mention there was snow, and no power? It was beautiful, but chilly!

Neb cooked a nice camp-style breakfast in the iron skillet on the grille, yummy eggs and bacon! We had decided if the power did not return by 3pm, we would attempt to drive to Raleigh (if the roads would permit). Our fireplace is to be serviced next week, and so we were unable to use it.

Neb cranked the small generator up to power an electric blanket, the TV and the DVR. At one, the power returned. YAY! We had decided that we would not go out into the snow until the power was on, and since B-Boy was taking his nap when it came on, we waited to go play.

Sadly, the power went out a half an hour later. We eventually decided to pack up and head into town. The MacFamily said they had power and to come join them. We found the roads were surprisingly clear, (our streets here don't normally get plowed and is typically covered in ice) and so we made good time taking my mom home.

The MacFamily was so kind to let us bunk in for the night. B-Boy was so happy to see ChiggerButt again! B-Boy slept well in the pack-n-play although I am not sure how much longer that will be an option... he is almost too long for it! We loved the fantastic company of our extended family, and had fun visiting with them.

We came home the next morning, grateful for the hospitality of our friends, and for the power that was now warming our home. We got eight inches of snow, which was beautiful... it is just too bad we weren't able to get out and enjoy it!
